The project consist on the restoration of a small chapel built around the midseventeenth century. The building is very damaged and some parts collapsed.
Due to its uniqueness and architectural quality, Orihuela municipality, proceed with its rehabilitation.
The current building has three distinct structures, the church and two houses one on each side. The church has a Latin cross plan with a nave; the header forms a polygonal apse that corresponds to the main chapel, beside it we find a small apsidiole, with the same structure, which originally was covered by an Arab tiled dome crowned with a lantern, that worked as vestry.
The use of the building will be Center for the Study of Urban Evolution of Orihuela. With this new use the municipality tries to revitalize the area and make it a attractive for tourist.
Temporary exhibitions that will describe the urban evolution of the city of Orihuela are planned.
